Vintage Film Burns is a collection of Film Burns from Blindusk created through experiments with real film, different lights, and colored gels to reproduce the overexposure, light leaks, and organic textures associated with analog film. Blindusk explains that Film Burns occur when film remains stationary between shots long enough for frames to become overexposed, with the exposure bleeding into adjacent frames.

The Film Burns were scanned in 4K rather than being created entirely as digital effects, retaining natural variations in light, color, and film texture.

WORKFLOW

Vintage Film Burns works as a video-overlay collection rather than an installable plugin. Files are imported like regular footage and placed on a video layer above the main edit.

Blindusk instructs users to set the Blending Mode to Overlay. The modular assets can be used individually or stacked, scaled, and repositioned to create additional variations.

Color and contrast can also be adjusted to match individual footage.
