BOOM Library – Winds of Nature Stereo

ABOUT THIS RESOURCE

Description

Winds of Nature is a nature sound-effects library from BOOM Library's QUIET PLANET series, dedicated entirely to authentic wind recordings captured across a wide variety of environments around the world. The recordings were made by Emmy-winning nature recordist Gordon Hempton, who has spent decades documenting pristine natural soundscapes.

This is specifically the STEREO edition, containing 130 binaural stereo recordings ranging from extremely gentle breezes to powerful winds and raging storms. These are recordings of real wind in natural and built environments rather than wind effects created using artificial sound sources.

SOUND CONTENT

The library captures an extensive range of wind intensities, textures, and environments:

• Gentle breezes and zephyrs
• Light natural winds
• Variable gusts
• Strong and powerful winds
• Whistling winds
• Howling winds
• Roaring winds
• Rumbling winds
• Swirling and blustery movement
• Storm winds
• Wind through forests
• Rustling leaves
• Wind through deciduous forests
• Wind through coniferous forests
• Whistling through pine needles
• Wind through grasses and vegetation
• Palm-frond movement
• Desert winds
• Wind across large open environments
• Wind interacting with water
• Wind through wires and structures
• Branches, leaves, and natural materials reacting to wind

Rather than capturing only the wind itself, many recordings preserve the way it interacts with its surroundings. This provides detailed textures such as rustling vegetation, rattling branches, whistling pine needles, and the deep roar of wind moving across expansive terrain.
