MotionBlur Plugin is a motion blur tool for DaVinci Resolve from CarVinci, designed to make movement appear smoother and more natural without producing an obvious blended-frame appearance during slower motion. It is particularly suited to speed ramps, fast camera movement, automotive videos, and other high-energy edits.

Rather than applying the same amount of blur throughout an entire clip, MotionBlur Plugin analyzes movement and dynamically adjusts its strength according to speed. Faster movement can receive stronger blur while low-motion areas are automatically reduced to avoid unnecessary smearing.

The current release is MotionBlur Plugin V2, which adds Automatic and Manual motion-blur methods along with a Performance Mode for smoother playback in demanding edits.

AUTOMATIC MOTION BLUR

Automatic Mode analyzes movement and adapts the blur accordingly.

Instead of maintaining one fixed blur strength across the entire clip, the plugin responds to how much movement is occurring. Faster sections can receive more motion blur while slower or nearly static areas receive less.

This helps prevent the entire image from appearing unnecessarily blurred.

MANUAL MOTION BLUR

Version 2 also provides a Manual method for situations where editors want a different approach to controlling the effect.

Automatic Mode is designed around speed-responsive processing, while Manual Mode provides an alternative when more deliberate control is preferred.

PERFORMANCE MODE

Motion-blur processing can become demanding on complex timelines and high-resolution footage.

V2 introduces a Performance Mode intended to improve playback on heavier edits, alongside additional performance optimizations.

WORKFLOW

1. Open the DRFX installer.
2. Install the plugin in DaVinci Resolve.
3. Open the Effects Library.
4. Find the CarVinci MotionBlur Plugin.
5. Drag and drop it onto a clip.
6. Choose Automatic or Manual processing.
7. Adjust the motion blur for the movement and desired look.
8. Use Performance Mode when smoother editing playback is required.
